Tulipanes (Tulips, Jeff Koons, 1995 – 2004), a bouquet of multi-coloured balloon flowers made of stainless steel with a transparent, coloured coating, evokes a sense of lightness, even though it weighs three tons

Despertándose (The Awakening, Gilbert and George, 1984). Central to the work are the two artists who depict the horror of a kind of inner awakening, perhaps the transition from youth to adulthood

La Materia del Tiempo (The Matter of Time, Richard Serra, 1994 – 2005). The monumental corten steel works transform unexpectedly as you walk through or around them, creating a dizzying sense of space in motion

The Oak of Guernica (2005). From the 10th century onwards, the General Assembly of the province met here, and the Kings of Spain took the oath in which they promised to respect the fueros, the liberties of Bizkaia. This oath remained in effect until 1876
